austriamicrosystems and Nordic ID have jointly launched Nordic ID’s UHF RFID reader solutions.

The AS3992 powers the Nordic ID UHF RFID reader, NUR-05W, said to be the smallest 500 mW RFID engine available. This module is the engine that drives the Nordic ID Morphic, Merlin and Sampo mobile computers and ID readers.

The Merlin UHF RFID cross dipole enables RFID reading from any angle at 4 m or more for up to 28 h on a charge. The Sampo S1 is a mountable USB reader for interactive read/write RFID applications.

The AS3992 UHF reader chip is an integrated analog front-end and data framing system for a 900 MHz RFID reader system. Built-in programming options make it suitable for a wide range of applications in UHF RFID systems.

Designed to simplify the design and implementation of an EPC Class1 Gen2 reader, the AS3992 requires only a standard 8-bit microcontroller with minimal additional components.
