Allied Data Systems flameproof computer

Friday, 08 October, 2010 | Supplied by: Allied Data Systems Pty Ltd

A computing solution to fit into a flameproof box that uses a custom-designed touch screen, works through a 10 mm clear plastic screen.

The screen is bonded to the plastic and is manufactured to maintain clarity for the LCD screen below. This allows the software to provide soft reconfigurable keys for the user interface.

This screen works through 10 mm thick clear lexan and allows the computing system to be mounted into an explosion-proof container for operation in coal mines and other areas where intrinsic safety or explosion proof are a requirement.

The computer can run Windows CE or Linux and is based on an ARM CPU module from Compulab.
