Yantel VAS Miniature Variable Attenuators
Yantel has introduced its VAS Miniature Variable Attenuators. They operate in a wide frequency range of DC to 6000 MHz, using advanced microstrip technology to achieve high RF performance in a small package. The wide attenuation range of 0 to 90 dB is achieved using a switching combination of the following values: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12 dB.
Each switch has a life cycle of greater than 10,000 operations. The attenuation values are adjustable in a power-on state, so test data can be read continuously without interruption. The unit uses technology which eliminates any sudden large reflections in attenuators when attenuation is being adjusted, preventing the preliminary RF circuit component, such as the power amplifier, from being burnt, and keeping the system stable.
The power handling of the VAS is 2 W, and it comes in either 50 Ω (standard) or 75 Ω impedance with a VSWR of 1.1 to 1.8. It has low attenuation tolerance and low insertion loss with the option of BNC, F, N or SMA connectors. It has an operating temperature of -40 to +85°C.
The product is suitable for broadcast, WLAN systems, radar, satellite, GPS, lab testing and mobile communication stations.
