Maxim MAX19994A 1200 to 2000 MHz, dual downconverting mixer
Maxim has introduced the MAX19994A, a fully integrated, 1200 to 2000 MHz, dual downconverting mixer with an on-chip LO switch, buffer and splitter.
Designed using Maxim’s monolithic SiGe BiCMOS process, the device delivers a combination of linearity, noise performance and component integration.
A single IC provides two independent downconversion channels, each with a +25 dBm (typ) IIP3, 8.4 dB (typ) conversion gain and 9.8 dB (typ) noise figure.
It offers 2LO-2RF spurious rejection of 68 dBc for an RF level of -10 dBm, and 63 dBc for a level of -5 dBm.
The mixer is designed specifically for 2.5/3G/4G wireless-infrastructure applications in which high linearity and a low noise figure are critical for enhanced receiver sensitivity and blocker immunity.
The 19994A supports high-side LO injection architectures for 1200 to 1700 MHz WCDMA/LTE base stations; it can also be configured for 1700 to 2000 MHz GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/LTE, TD-SCDMA, and CDMA2000 low-side injection architectures.
As a complete SiGe downconverter, the device integrates two mixer cores, four amplifiers, three baluns, an LO switch, buffer and splitter and dozens of discrete components.
The device’s 8.4 dB conversion gain enables the elimination of a complete IF amplifier stage within the receiver line-up.
