Cardinal Components Electro-Set interface boards for the Internet of Things

Cardinal Components has introduced an IoT board-level offering that focuses on connecting everything to everything - objects, people, processes, data and machines. The product is suitable for designers, hobbyists and anyone interested in quickly creating interactive objects or environments for IoT-enabled products.

The Electro-Set interface boards are said to be different to other offerings by providing a standard, unified 6-pin connector including I2C interconnect for all breakout boards. This allows for rapid proof-of-concept design and prototyping, so no soldering or board building is required.

Initially Electro-Set will offer an Arduino UNO interface board and a MicroChip PIC processor board with USB. Application-specific kits, as well as product-specific individual functional boards, will be available. Future processor interface platforms will include Intel Galileo, NXP, Raspberry Pi, TI and Renesas.

Connectivity to the IoT can be performed in many ways: 802.11, Bluetooth, Zigbee, GSM, USB, etc. New products include a line of Bluetooth modules, including Bluetooth LE version 4.0, and can be added as a part of the kit in addition to Real Time Plus products (which integrate a real-time clock, battery and a crystal in a single discrete module).
