Digital isolators, with iCoupler technology from Analog Devices, have been added to element14’s 120,000-strong inventory of products stocked within Asia-Pacific.

The isolators combine chip-scale micro-transformer technology, analog and mixed-signal circuits, as well as high-speed CMOS, creating devices with significant system level integration and functional advantages over other devices.

The isolators portfolio is said to be the broadest in the industry and includes standard digital isolators, isolators with isoPower, isolators with integrated PWM controller and transformer driver, USB 2.0 compatible isolators, isolated gate drivers, isolated I²C digital isolators, isolated RS485 transceivers, isolated RS232 devices, isolated <0x03A3>-Δ ADCs.

The ADuM347x family is quad-channel isolators with an integrated PWM controller and transformer driver for an isolated DC-to-DC converter. The converter provides up to 2 W of regulated, isolated power at 3.3 to 24 V from a 5.0 V input supply or from a 3.3 V supply which eliminates the need for a separate, isolated DC-to-DC converter.

The chip-scale transformer technology is used to isolate the logic signals, and the integrated transformer driver with isolated secondary side control provides higher efficiency for the converter. The result is a small form factor, total isolation solution.

The recently released ADuM3160 and ADuM4160 are claimed to be the industry’s first single package USB isolation solutions. The USB 2.0-compliant devices are fully isolated to 1.5 and 12 Mbps and have been developed to lower system cost, reduce design size and to lessen design time all while meeting medical and industrial standards.

The ADuM4160 offers 5 kV RMS isolation that is suitable for medical applications as well as applications in harsh industrial environments.

The ADuM3160 offers 2.5 kV RMS isolation and electrically isolates instrumentation and controls by protecting equipment from damaging surges or spikes and by eliminating downtime when using non-isolated ports.
