Electronex Melbourne reaches record attendance
The recent Electronex — Electronics Design and Assembly Expo and SMCBA Conference that took place from 10–11 May at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre was a great success, marking an increase in attendance and a sold-out Exhibition Hall. It was co-located with Australian Manufacturing Week and many trade exhibitors took the opportunity to visit both exhibitions over the two days. Trade exhibitions across Australia have been reporting high attendances with visitors welcoming the return of face-to-face discussions with major industry suppliers after the COVID-19 disruptions.
Attendance to the Expo was constant over the two days with a steady stream of trade and industry visitors from all across Australia and New Zealand. A total of 1920 trade visitors attended, including 82 delegates and over 100 companies represented on 78 exhibition stands. Over 300 exhibitor staff also welcomed the opportunity to network and do business with industry colleagues, as Electronex provides an important focal point for Australian industry.
The inaugural soldering competition that was held on the show floor also attracted interest, with Matt van Wijk from Monash University taking out the first prize of a JBC Compact soldering station and Angus McLennan (also from Monash) a close runner-up.
A post-show visitor survey revealed that 75% of attendees were directly involved in purchasing, specifying or recommending products, 88% discovered new companies, 85% discovered new products and 96% said a dedicated show such as Electronex was beneficial to their industry. The next exhibition will be held in Sydney in 2024 at Rosehill Gardens Event Centre from 19–20 June, with many 2023 exhibitors already requesting space for 2024.
