LPKF Laser & Electronics has released the ProtoMat H100 that allows reduction in the production time of prototype PCBs.

The maximum milling speed is doubled compared with other systems and the integrated smart following-vector path generation allows the system to maintain a higher average speed.

Combining these features improves the performance by two to three times for this machine. Prototyping six and eight layer boards can be accomplished in-house quickly.

The resolution has been increased five fold to 1 µm, and combined with a 100,000 rpm three-phase programmable motor this plotter can create 0.1 mm tracks with 0.1 mm spacing, accommodating packages including BGA and µBGA.

Along with the increased performance, the H100 also includes features derived from high volume production systems.

These include automatic tool change, tool calibration using an optical sensor and automatic fiducial recognition by camera. The system now has an integrated vacuum tabletop, enabling easy mounting for thin and flexible substrates.

Simplification of board alignment and fixing requiring basic operational knowledge makes prototyping of complex boards quick and simple.

For in-house production of multi-layer boards the plotter operates in conjunction with LPKF's reverse pulse plating bath and multi-layer lamination equipment. The complete process can be completed in one day.
