The Altocumulus IoT Kit from IoTzone is an IoT evaluation unit that enables users to evaluate and quickly develop industrial IoT and embedded cellular applications. The PCB can operate standalone or with an external USB host.
The kit comprises a Telit HE901-G mPCIe card that plugs into a baseboard. Out of the box, the kit will interact with the Telit IoT Cloud Platform (deviceWISE) by simply connecting the supplied USB cable and antenna. The modem ships with a pre-installed Python script which demonstrates deviceWISE I/O functionality with the use of a GPIO push-button as input and LED as output. The kit also includes a GPS antenna socket for developing location-aware IoT and cellular applications.
Full design sources, including Eagle EDA files, are available to help users create their own baseboards and to take their ideas to market fast.
Further development of the onboard script can be done from the Python source framework with code supplied. Code examples and libraries for several programming languages are also available for developing external host processor applications that connect via the terminal serial ports. A large selection of development tools is available free of charge from the internet.
The kit is also suitable for non-cloud application development. The PCB supports popular technologies such as SMS, GPRS, PDP sessions, dial-up, etc.
