Marconi cuts 70 jobs

Marconi has cut 70 Australian staff and is consolidating its three divisions into one organisation for Australia and New Zealand.
Paul Butcher, previously Asia Pacific VP for Marconi Networks, has been appointed Australia and New Zealand managing director and Asia Pacific vice president. Seventy of Marconi's 250 Australian staff, including enterprise group managing director, Adrian Siebel, were made redundant. There were no cuts in New Zealand.
