Agilent Technologies has announced that its Infiniium 90000A Series 13-GHz oscilloscopes have been approved by the PCI-SIG (PCI Special Interest Group) for PCI Express 2.0 electrical signal quality testing.

This approval means designers can use Agilent's DSO/DSA91304A Infiniium oscilloscope to test and validate designs with confidence they will meet PCIe physical layer specifications.

The oscilloscopes offer acquisition memory depth up to 1 G points. This  memory gives designers the ability to capture 25 milliseconds of time, at 40 GSa/s, on all four channels simultaneously.

This memory depth is six times deeper than the memory in other oscilloscopes in the same class, according to the company. For PCI Express, the memory exceeds the requirement to capture a minimum of 1 million unit intervals of waveform data for jitter and voltage margin analysis.

The DSO and DSA models are capable of more than 150,000 measurements per second and offer modes supporting more than 300,000 triggers per second.

The oscilloscope features:
• Signal integrity;
• Deep application analysis: The InfiniiScan Plus event-identification system is based on hardware trigger system. This trigger system can identify glitches faster than 250 ps.
• Robust applications: More than 29 dedicated applications - including DDR2/3, DisplayPort, HDMI, Serial ATA, Serial Attached SCSI, Ethernet, USB, wireless USB, jitter analysis, RF signal analysis, eye pattern analysis and protocol decoding analysis.
• Investment protection: upgradeable bandwidth for real-time oscilloscopes, upgradeable memory options and application server licensing for oscilloscopes.
