Avalue ARC-21W33 and ARC-21W34 rugged touchscreen panel PCs
Designed to be waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and scratchproof, Avalue’s ARC series rugged touchscreen panel PCs are built to withstand harsh operating environments and are suitable for most work settings, including information terminals, library navigation and automatic borrowing/lending/inquiry systems, kiosks and factory automation. With their wide operating temperature range and readability under sunlight, plus coating technology for PCAP touchscreen, their ruggedness can be demonstrated in outdoor settings.
The ARC-21W33 and ARC-21W34 touchscreen PCs are the latest additions to the ARC series. With a large screen size of 21.5″, the rugged panel PCs are built with either Intel Celeron J3455 (ARC-21W33) or Intel Core i5-7300U (ARC-21W34), and are protected by an IP65 rating in the front and IP41 rating at the back, making them suitable for use in humid and dusty operating environments. The PCs’ wide temperature and pressure range should reduce instability in voltage, and consequent system unavailability, due to rapid temperature changes. Easy-to-install, fanless open-frame modular design provides stable operation in harsh environments.
Avalue uses multiple coating technologies to improve user experience in outdoor environments. For instance, anti-glare coating solves problems caused by changes in lighting conditions, fogging and dirt, effectively reducing screen surface reflection and lighting interference; an anti-reflection coating reduces light reflection; and anti-fingerprint coating protects against water, fingerprints and grease. These coatings should reinforce stability of the touchscreen panel and improve convenience of use, meeting customisation and coating requirements at the same time.
The PCs offer an open frame for flexible expansion, which includes 2.5″ hot swap HDD, HDMI, COM, MPCIe, and GPIO and CAN Bus expansion, enabling users to quickly assemble and expand according to their specific budget and specifications. This should help to shorten the R&D process, reduce management costs and allow for gradual upgrade to Industry 4.0. The devices are expected to benefit IoT-related industries including industrial automation, human-machine interface, in-vehicle systems and more.
