Avalue EPM-1607 three-in-one M.2 expansion card

Avalue Technology has released its peripheral product EPM-1607, with PCIe three-in-one M.2 2280/2260/2242. The compact device uses high-performance PCIe 2.0 specifications and is compatible with a 16C550 UART controller. Able to expand to four independent RS-232 ports with a 115,200 bps baud rate per port, it provides good performance and a fast transmission speed.

Supporting a 256 B FIFO buffer, it stores data in real time during rapid or large data transmission, preventing data loss due to software or multitasking delay. While environmentally friendly with ultralow power consumption, its high-speed design allows synchronous communication between multiple ports. It is suitable for any system with an M.2 (key-B+M) slot, including a 3.5″ single-board computer, ITX and ATX, box PC and tablet PC.

The product provides three-in-one M.2 2280/2260/2242 form factors. The card can be directly inserted into a 2280 slot due to its stamp-hole design, and it can also fit into a 2260 or 2242 slot. The user can split the card along the stamp holes using pliers or just bare hands. The plug-and-play and flexible design helps users save resources and time in reassembly and testing.

Designed to be foolproof, the device has two different connectors so that the user does not insert in the reverse direction. Furthermore, the RS-232 connected to the motherboard uses connectors that can be locked in to prevent loosening and facilitate assembly. The product is also built with industrial-grade parts and can operate in a wide temperature range of -40 to +85°C. It has passed shock and vibration testing, passed compatibility tests for most motherboards and systems, and is compliant with IEC60068-2-1/IEC60068-2-2/IEC60068-2-14.

The M.2 card with four RS-232 serial ports expansion supports Driver Support Windows 10/8/7/XP and Linux Kernel 2.6.x or above operating systems. Its high speed, stable transmission and flexible expandability make it suitable for applications in public transportation, HMI and machine vision in industrial automation, manufacturing and intelligent control.
