Test laboratory restructured
Comtest Laboratories has been restructured following the sale of EMC Technologies' 40% shareholding. Chris Zombolas and Les Dickenson have left the Comtest board leaving it in the hands of the current executive directors Peter Arms and Greg Caspar.
Comtest was purchased from Telstra in 1996 and was transformed into a private sector telecoms test laboratory.
The partnership between EMC Technologies and Comtest allowed them to focus and build test capability in their respective fields, to ensure that Australian industry had access to internationally recognised testing and approval services.
Greg Caspar and former director, Chris Zombolas say that the close co-operation between the two companies will continue.
EMC Technologies plans to use the capital raised from the sale of the shares for a major expansion of the business. New test facilities will be built in EMC's 5000 m2 property in the Translink industrial park in Keilor-Tullamarine.
The purpose-built laboratories will include additional EMC test chambers and environmental testing facilities to fully cater for testing to the stringent automotive, aerospace and military standards.
To mark the change in ownership a new logo has been introduced that represents the continuation of the company's operation as a test laboratory provide compliance assessment and approvals for a global market.
