Closed loop stepping

Tuesday, 15 September, 2009 | Supplied by: M Rutty & Co Pty Ltd

M Rutty has released the Ezi-Servo, a closed loop stepping motor controller from FAS Technology that uses a high-resolution encoder to constantly monitor the current motor shaft position.

With the encoder feedback feature, the device keeps updating the current position information every 25 µs.

If necessary, it takes corrective action to compensate loss of synchronisation.

There is no problem with hunting in the controller that uses the feature of stepping motors.

The servo drive uses a high-resolution encoder with 10,000 pulses/revolution. The onboard digital signal processor performs vector control and filtering to give smooth rotational control with minimum ripples.

The device has good synchronisation with commanding pulses with a short and fast response in a positioning action.

The controller can maintain a high torque over relatively long periods.
